Music is an integral part of the worship experience at Metropolitan, and our broad range of musical participation extends down to our youngest Christians. Metropolitan has a long tradition of enhancing Christian learning through musical experience. Our two children’s choirs are designed to foster the joy of music through a wide variety of musical selections and opportunities for performance.
The Cherub Choir is for our youngest singers (ages 4 – 1st grade) and includes experiential musical play through simple songs, movement, and rhythmic instruments.
The Morningstar Choir is our elementary choir (2nd - 5th grade), and focuses on developing vocal skill by exploring harmony, rhythm, dynamics, and instrumentation.
The children’s choirs perform throughout the school year in regular church services and for special events, such as the Christmas Eve Family Service, and the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. We may perform a moving prayer, a pop song with a band, or a grand anthem together with adult and handbell choirs. We love singing, and we love to share our music with the congregation.
Both choirs rehearse during the 9am service on Sunday morning in the lower level music wing. The Morningstar Singers meet in the choir room, and the Cherub Choir meets in the Music Room. All Metropolitan children and visitors are welcome to join us!
