Join the fun and fellowship at the Great Day of Service February 23, 2008

Looking for a way to pass on lessons of giving to your children? Want to enjoy the warmth of your church community on a chilly winter day? Come to the Great Day of Service on February 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m..

There will be a variety of projects throughout the church to appeal to those who like to cook, write, do crafts or just want to lend a hand. Our efforts will help the elderly, homeless and hungry in our area.

-Learn to knit with the Prayer Shawl Ministry
-Make sandwiches for the hungry
-Create a gift and card for elderly or homebound church members
-Assemble health and layette kits for United Methodist Committee on Relief
-Clean Sunday School rooms
-Make treats to deliver to Methodist Home residents
-Write letters on behalf of Amnesty International
-Cook meals for Metropolitan House

This year, we will have a special activity at the Methodist Home on Connecticut Ave. In the morning, one the activities at the church will be to make baked goods for the residents. Then adults will accompany up to 12 children to the Home to deliver the treats. From 10:30-11:30 a.m., children will be paired with residents to do an individual craft project. If you are interested in participating, please contact Caralee Adams (Caralee.adams@verizon.net or 301-320-9712).

Throughout the morning at Service Day, there will be refreshments, juice and coffee. At noon, lunch will be served. Please invite your friends, neighbors, and colleagues to participate in this family-friendly day of fellowship and giving.
