With much excitement, I share this information with you about this summer’s plans for serving in Appalachia. Our dates are confirmed as June 15 – June 22. We will plan to leave on Saturday, June 14th from the church. You are eligible to participate if you will be 14 years old and completed the 8th grade by June.

Cost and Forms:
□ $215 deposit – due Feb 10
Registration & Medical Release Form: (to be notarized)
Statement of Activities & Release Form

The cost for the trip is $215 per person – there are no other costs that you will have for the week of ASP. Our meals and lodging are included in that.
I will need to have your $215 by February 10. If you paid last year, you will not be expected to pay again, as we discussed. If you are interested in a scholarship, please fill out the form and attach a note to me about this. Also in this packet, you will find the 2008 Medical Form and Participation Release Form. These are to be signed and notarized by May 1. However, you may turn them in with your deposit if you find you can get all your ducks in a row.

Important Dates
            □ January 27 – mission meeting in Youth Room at 10:10am
            □ February Evening Youth Groups on 2/10, 2/17. and 2/24
            □ March 2 – mission auction at 12:30 in the Vestry
We will meet to discuss the trip on Sunday Jan. 27 at 10:10 in the Youth Room. Parents and students will attend this meeting to get questions answered and get to know each other. Students will then spend the next 3 youth group times preparing for the Mission Auction and Show. This year, we will showcase our talent as we have folks bid on items that will raise money for the mission teams. We will be rehearsing our skits and making phone calls these nights. Everyone who wants to go on the trip needs to be a part of the hard work of raising funds. The Mission Auction provides us with our cost of meals, van rental, lodging and more.

I pray that our team will have a wonderful year – and I thank God in advance for the ways that you will serve as Christ’s hands and feet in Appalachia!

Sincerely,

Rev. Faith Lewis
