Our Call Praising, Learning, Serving
Reconciling Statement Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church affirms that all individuals are of sacred worth without regard to race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, religion, education, marital circumstances, economic status, physical and mental condition, or criminal history. We declare ourselves in support of the reconciling movement and welcome the full participation in the church of gay, lesbian, bis exual, or transgendered persons and their families, as a reflection of God’s unconditional love. At the same time, we recognize differences of opinion on issues of sexuality and seek to journey together in faith toward greater understanding and mutual respect.
January Sermon Series
"The Boy who Lived:
A Christian Exploration of Harry Potter"
The Harry Potter series of books and movies are worldwide phenomena. They have beehn praised for the brilliance of their vision and for motivating a new generation of children to read again. They have also been criticized as promoting anti-Christian behaviors, such as the practice of magic. At its core, however, the Harry Potter series is based on profoundly Christian themes, such as the power of sacrificial love and the nature of sin and grace. Join us in January as we explore the world of Harry Potter and what it has to teach us about our faith.
